A short history
Hello,
my name is Mia.
I’ve been passionate about photography for most of my life. I remember as a kid going to the library at school to flick through the photography magazine, gazing in wonder at how photography could make the world seem like a magical place. When I was 16 I spent all my confirmation money on what was at the time a premium old school film camera. It was my first SLR camera!
Growing up I dreamed up being an actor. I studied drama for my a levels (in Norway), and got accepted into Rose Bruford College on the BA (hons) Actor Musicianship course. I graduated and worked as an actor musician in theatre for a number of years. As a side hustle I started selling my art at markets, and soon found that I much preferred working with visual arts.
In 2014, I was very lucky to be apart of a tour as an actor with Riks Teateret (the traveling national theatre in Norway) traveling around Norway.
Inspired by the beautiful nature around me, with the burning urge to photograph it all, I got obsessed with researching cameras, and bought my first professional DSLR digital camera.
I read the manual back to back, learned the camera and it’s functions inside out. When ever I had a chance I would go for walks with my camera, and it quickly became a ritual with every new place that we visited.
As an artist, I have always been fascinated by portraits, and people are some of my favourite things to paint.
I started my portrait photography business kind of accidentally, just by having fun with my friends, shooting their portraits/headshots. And often taking photos of people to use them as references for paintings.
I quickly discovered that this was something I loved doing, and started building and saving for my first studio kit.
Some years later, I moved into my first small art studio in Camberwell, and painting and illustration work took over for a while.
In 2024 I moved studios, again, to a much bigger one, and I now finally have the space needed for a photography studio. And I am very excited to be immersing myself back into it all again!
